1 liter of water
Optional: Honey or lemon for flavor enhancement
Instructions
Prepare the Leaves: If you’re using fresh laurel leaves, rinse them under cold water to remove any dust or impurities. For dried leaves, ensure they are free from any debris or particles.
Boil Water: In a medium-sized pot, bring water to a rolling boil. The purity of the water can affect the taste of your tea, so use filtered water if possible.
Add the Laurel Leaves: Once the water is boiling, add the laurel leaves. Reduce the heat to a simmer. If you prefer a stronger flavor and more potent therapeutic properties, increase the number of leaves slightly.
Simmer: Let the leaves simmer in the boiling water for about 5-10 minutes. The timing can be adjusted depending on how strong you like your tea. Longer simmering will intensify the flavor and the release of beneficial compounds.
Steep: After simmering, remove the pot from the heat and let the tea steep for an additional 5 minutes. Steeping allows the volatile oils and active compounds in the laurel leaves to infuse the water thoroughly.
Strain and Serve: Strain the laurel leaves from the tea using a fine mesh strainer. Pour the hot tea into a cup.
Add Flavors: If desired, enhance your cup of laurel leaf tea with a teaspoon of honey for sweetness or a squeeze of lemon for a tangy twist. These additions not only improve taste but also add their own health benefits.
