Lying in bed, I heard Alex quietly talking to his mom outside the door. My heart started racing—why was Mrs. Green here on our first night together? I pulled the covers up, feeling both confused and nervous.
“Mom, I can’t do it. Can you come in?” Alex said.
When they came in, I was shocked. Mrs. Green looked at him, surprised, and said, “Wait, have you told her about the—?”
