According to Dr Vanessa MacKay of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the vagina has a natural secretory system that allows it to clean itself. It’s protected by the good bacteria it contains.
According to the National Institutes of Health, the pH of the vagina is typically between 3.8 and 5.0, which means it’s quite acidic compared to the normally neutral pH level of 7.
Dr. MacKay continues, “Disrupting the natural balance can lead to infections, but it’s perfectly normal and healthy for women to have some clear or white vaginal discharge.”
