Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the cheddar cheese soup and ketchup, mixing until well combined. Let it simmer for a few minutes.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, pressing the seams together to form a crust.
Spread the beef mixture evenly over the crescent roll crust.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the beef mixture.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Variations & Tips
For a little extra flavor, you can add a tablespoon of mustard to the beef mixture. If your family enjoys a bit of spice, consider adding some diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce. For a more veggie-packed version, toss in some chopped bell peppers or mushrooms with the onions. If you have little ones who aren’t fans of onions, you can substitute with onion powder or omit them entirely. You can also use ground turkey or chicken as a lighter alternative to beef.
