You’ve probably already plugged several devices into a power strip without thinking too much about it. After all, these accessories are designed to make everyday life easier. However, some bad habits can cause short circuits, power surges, and even fires. So, which devices should you absolutely avoid plugging into an extension cord?

The refrigerator and freezer: discreet but powerful consumers

It is often forgotten that these devices operate continuously and require  a stable power supply . An extension cord can cause  voltage fluctuations , harming the proper functioning of the motor and  reducing its lifespan . In addition, in the event of an overload, the circuit breaker can trip,  compromising the preservation of your food .

Solution  : Always plug these devices directly into a  dedicated wall outlet .

The microwave oven: a surprising consumption peak

Contrary to what you might think, a microwave consumes  as much, or even more, than a washing machine  on certain models. The power peaks it generates can easily  overload an extension cord , especially if it already powers other appliances.

Alternative  : If you are short of sockets, opt for  a direct connection  with a suitable power socket.
