Let’s go back to basics. The Moon has a cycle that lasts about 28 days. During this period, the star will appear to disappear in the sky, then it will grow, taking the shape of a quarter, a crescent, then a complete circle. This is when the Full Moon appears, about two weeks after the start of the lunation. To find out the dates of this unique event, the best thing to do is to refer to a lunar calendar. Generally, they are indicated by a white circle. Once this lunar phase has passed, the Moon will gradually wane and disappear again. This will be the sign that the lunation is over and that a new cycle is about to begin.
How long is the Full Moon?
If the Full Moon has a specific date and time, its powers are said to extend over several days. Thus, its effects were felt two or three days before and two or three days after. If from an astronomical point of view, the Full Moon simply indicates the moment when the star is illuminated in its entirety by the Sun (hence its round and complete shape), among witches and astrology enthusiasts, this lunar phase would be the moment when the powers of the Moon are felt most intensely. Hence the fact that rituals and celebrations take place on Full Moon evenings.
