The biggest problem with shower walls isn’t dirt, but limescale, which builds up over time. To identify limescale deposits, you’ll notice white or dull spots that won’t disappear. These include tiles, shower fittings, and bathtubs.
To remove limescale stains, opt for ammonia. Also popular for household cleaning, it’s an excellent cleaner and disinfectant that will get rid of all stubborn stains and yellowed enamel.
Pour 2 glasses of ammonia and 2 cups of hot water into a spray bottle. Shake and spray on all areas with limescale. Then let the product sit for 5 to 10 minutes before scrubbing with a cloth or sponge. Finally, rinse thoroughly with cold water. Also, make sure the windows and door are open to eliminate the rather strong ammonia odor.
Salt and white vinegar

If your bathtub is full of limescale , we recommend the precious mixture of white vinegar and salt. The fusion of the two will perfectly help to clean the scaled areas of the bathtub. Coarse salt is well known to our grandmothers as a cleaning, disinfecting and degreasing agent. The same goes for lemon: this citrus fruit has surprising benefits for shining and descaling different areas of the house. Not to mention the fact that it also eliminates unpleasant mold odors and leaves a fresh and fragrant scent in the room.
Pour two cups of white vinegar, one cup of hot water, and lemon juice into a spray bottle. Add three tablespoons of salt and mix the ingredients together. This homemade cleaner will permanently remove limescale. Simply pour it over the bathtub and use a brush to scrub.
For even greater effectiveness, use hydrogen peroxide, which is also powerful for cleaning and descaling. It will remove limescale and yellow stains from your bathtub. Simply spray it on and let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse with warm water. You won’t even need to scrub to get a sparkling result!
Hydrochloric acid
To get rid of all that grime, you can rely on hydrochloric acid. This colorless aqueous liquid is known for descaling and disinfecting sanitary facilities. But be careful, as it is a corrosive product with a very strong odor, it must be used with great caution. It is best not to use it as a last resort if your bathtub is really dirty. Remember to dilute it in water before applying it, wear gloves and a mask, and above all, ventilate the bathroom!
