Manipulation: a formidable weapon
The narcissistic pervert does not just dominate, he skillfully manipulates to make his victim believe that she is at fault. One of his favorite techniques is gaslighting , which consists of distorting reality to sow doubt in the mind of the other.
Examples of common manipulation:
- He denies obvious facts (“You’re making it up, I never said that.”).
- He plays with your emotions to get what he wants.
- It gradually distances you from those around you.
This psychological control creates dependency and makes it difficult to break up, because the victim loses confidence in his or her own judgment .
