Eggs are one of the essential ingredients in the kitchen. But do you know how to recognize which ones are still fresh after their BBD (recommended use-by date)? Here are some easy tips to never doubt again.

The Float Test: The Water Experiment That Doesn’t Lie

Imagine: you have a bowl of water and an egg in your hands. Gently dip the egg into the water. What happens?

  • If the egg sinks to the bottom  : it is fresh.
  • If it floats or straightens up slightly  : it is old, but not necessarily inedible.

Why?  Over time, an air pocket forms inside the egg, making it lighter. A fascinating detail, right? However,  be careful  : even a runny egg can sometimes be unfit for consumption.
