Heat milk in a saucepan, add custard and sugar.
Let the mixture reduce until it thickens, then add butter, stir and let cool slightly.
Layers
Place the first layer of crackers on the bottom of the pan.
Spread the custard on top and then spread a layer of apples on top.
Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used up.
Add the caramel
Pour the caramel or topping over the cake and spread evenly.
Chill
Place in the fridge for at least 3 hours to allow the flavors to blend well.
Application
Sprinkle with cinnamon or chopped nuts before serving!
