Step by step: how to do it
- Fill the pan with water (approximately 1 liter per tablet used).
- Add a dishwasher tablet to the water.
- Dip your old skillet into the pot.
- Heat over low heat for an hour, letting everything simmer.
- Remove the pan and immediately scrape off any remaining carbon residue while it’s still hot. This is where the method really comes into its own: the black layer comes off much more easily!
- If necessary, repeat the operation for the most stubborn areas.
- Finally, rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any product residue.
Why it works (and why it’s safe)
Dishwasher tablets are designed to dissolve stubborn grease and food residue, even in the most inaccessible corners. They contain powerful active ingredients that are gentle enough not to damage kitchen utensils.
It’s a much gentler alternative to traditional stripping products, which are often too harsh and irritating. And most importantly, this method gives your pans a new lease of life without damaging their coating.
