1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb ground beef , turkey , or Italian sausage (or plant-based substitute)
1/2 cup onion , diced
1/2 cup bell pepper , diced (optional)
2 cloves garlic , minced
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
. For the Toppings:
1 cup marinara sauce (low-sugar if desired)
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or pizza blend)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
. Optional toppings: sliced pepperoni, diced tomatoes, sliced black olives, fresh basil, or red onion

Step 1: Cook the Base
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the onion and bell pepper (if using) and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
Add the ground meat to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink (about 6–8 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
Stir in the garlic , Italian seasoning , salt , pepper , and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 1–2 more minutes until fragran
