Criminals continue to operate on a Catalan highway, robbing tourists on the side of the road.

395 thefts. Since the beginning of 2024, thefts have been rife on the AP-7 motorway. Catalan authorities regularly warn road users about this scourge. Tourists are particularly vulnerable to these crimes on this, the longest stretch of road in Spain. The criminals are particularly experienced in the practice. The story of two German vacationers was told by L’Indépendant on May 30, 2024. A video of their mishap, filmed from inside their campervan, was posted online by a Spanish media outlet.

The two travelers pulled over to the side of the road after seeing someone flagging them down. The person explained that there was a problem with his trailer. He took the two tourists along so they could see the problem. An accomplice then rushed to the victims’ camper van to steal their personal belongings. In just a few seconds, the deed was done. “They stole the money we had withdrawn for our vacation,” laments one of the two Germans.
