2– Ice cubes, coarse salt and lemon zest

When   I cleaned the sink with water and dish soap but the bad smell still persists. The next step is to make sure the drain sheets are clean and free of food particles stuck to them. You can use ice cubes, coarse salt and lemon peels as this triple mixture removes stuck food particles and gives the sink a refreshing scent.

  • Start by throwing a few ice cubes and a handful of coarse salt down the sink drain. The ice keeps food away from the blades while the coarse salt scrubs the walls.
  • Repeat the same way again.
  • Finally, grind a few lemon peels down the drain for a citrusy, refreshing scent.

3- Vinegar and lemon cubes

To get a fresh, clean smell for your kitchen sink, follow this method:

  • First cut the lemon into slices and then place them in the ice cube trays.
  • Then pour white vinegar over it.
  • Then remove the cubes from the mold and put some of them in the sink drain.
  • Finally, open the drain tap.

4- Boiling water

Boiling water helps clean and sterilize your sink as it attacks grease and food particles very strongly. All you have to do is pour boiling water into the sink to remove grease and food particles trapped in the sink drain.

5- Baking soda, vinegar and boiling water

  • Start by pouring a cup of baking soda down the drain and letting it sit for 15 minutes (do not let the water run).
  • Next, pour in a quarter to half cup of white vinegar. You will notice the bubbles bubbling and popping, so let it sit for another 15 minutes.
  • Finally, run the hot water. The hotter the water, the more bacteria it kills. We therefore recommend using a large kettle with boiling water.

6- Lemon juice, baking soda and boiling water

When you mix lemon juice or vinegar with baking soda, you will notice bubbles and fizz that will help clean and sterilize your kitchen sink and drain.

  • Start by pouring a cup of baking soda down the drain and letting it sit for 15 minutes (do not add water).
  • Next, pour in a quarter to half cup of lemon juice.
  • Watch for bubbles and gurgles and let sit for another 15 minutes.
  • Finally, run the hot water. The hotter the water, the more bacteria it kills. We therefore recommend using a large kettle with boiling water.
