Let’s Bake!

Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour (or line with parchment paper) an 8×8 inch baking pan.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.

Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Cool: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting (if using).

Frost (Optional): While the cake is cooling, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Add milk (or cream) one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

Enjoy! Frost the cooled cake with the cream cheese frosting and enjoy!
