This highlights the fact that keeping your mobile phone close to your body, i.e. in your trouser or shirt pockets for example, could lead to health risks. There is no study to prove this today, but scientists have serious suspicions.

A 2009 study also highlighted the fact that wearing cell phones around the hips and pelvis can weaken the pelvic region. Researchers used an X-ray technique to diagnose and monitor the health of patients with osteoporosis. They measured pelvic bone density in 150 men who regularly wore their cell phones attached to their belts for about 5 hours a day for 6 years. The study concluded that cell phones affect bone mineral density. In addition, cell phone radiation was also found to impact sperm quality and quantity in men.

A link between cell phones and cancer has also been made since a group of Israeli researchers reported a sharp increase in tumors of the parotid gland, which is the largest salivary gland located in the cheek. They found that between 1970 and 2006, the number of cases of parotid gland cancer quadrupled. In addition, Dr. Siegal Sadetzki published a study in 2008 on the risks of developing cancer depending on our use of cell phones. The results show that:

If you have received more than 5,500 calls since you bought your cell phone, you have a 58% chance of having cancer.

If you talked on your cell phone for more than 266 hours, you have a 49% chance of getting cancer

If you use your cell phone regularly for more than 5 years, you have a 34% risk of developing cancer.
