How to disinfect an object that fell into a dirty toilet

  • Do not use disinfectant sprays or wet wipes on electronic devices. They may be better treated with a small amount of alcohol.
  • Fumes from disinfectant detergents can be very strong. Use these products only in well-ventilated areas or outdoors. Also, point the nozzle or wipes away from your face during use.

Method 3
Disinfect delicate items with denatured alcohol
Step 1 Obtain a bottle of isopropyl alcohol.
1
Get a bottle of isopropyl alcohol. Also, get some cotton balls. Go to your nearest pharmacy or supermarket to buy isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol and cotton balls. Isopropyl alcohol is ideal for sterilizing electronic devices such as phones, remote controls, and any other items that cannot be exposed to water [9] .
Choose an alcohol that is 70% proof and contains no additives or flavors.
A small bottle of this product costs only a few euros and will be useful for many cleaning tasks.
Step 2 Soak a cotton ball in alcohol.
2
Soak a cotton ball in the alcohol. After removing the cap from the bottle, take a small amount of cotton and let the fibers absorb the liquid. Shake the cotton ball several times to remove excess alcohol, then press it against a clean cloth or the palm of your hand [10] .
The ball should not be too soaked, otherwise the alcohol may leak and get into the small holes of a phone, watch or headphones.
This method of disinfection has been used in medicine for a long time and has proven to be very effective [11] .

Method 4

Boil solid objects

  1. Step 1 Fill a large pot with water.
Then, bring the water to a boil. Use a large enough pot (depending on the size of the item to be disinfected) and place it on the stove over medium-high heat until the surface of the water is filled with bubbles. The heat from the boiling water will immediately destroy germs on items made of hard-to-clean materials  [13]  .

    • This method is ideal for thoroughly disinfecting compact solid objects that do not break easily, such as combs, toothbrushes, drinking vessels, and any other plastic or glass items.
  2. Step 2 Place the object in the pan.
Place it in boiling water using a pair of kitchen tongs and let it soak for 1 to 20 minutes, depending on its size and the material it is made of. This is because prolonged exposure to heat can cause it to warp. Move it around in the water from time to time to remove any germs that have collected on the surface  [14]  .continued on the next page
