1. Sudden weakness or numbness
One of the most common warning signs of an impending stroke is sudden weakness or numbness, usually on one side of the body. This can occur in the face, arm, or leg. If you experience sudden weakness or numbness, especially if it is on one side, seek medical help immediately.

2. Difficulty speaking or understanding language
Difficulty speaking is another warning sign of a stroke. You may have slurred speech or difficulty understanding others. In some cases, those affected may not be able to speak at all. Any sudden change in speech should prompt a visit to the emergency room.
